Billy joined Farrar Bates Berexa in 2023. He practices in the areas of municipal liability defense, civil rights defense, land use and zoning law, governmental tort liability defense, real estate errors and omissions defense, employment law, and workers’ compensation defense.
Before joining the firm, Billy was an attorney for Wimberly Lawson Wright Daves & Jones. He also worked for the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance and the Tennessee Department of Human Services from 2021 to 2022.
His professional background also includes serving as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Timothy L. Easter of the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals from 2019 to 2021, and he was a registered representative for Raymond James & Associates from 1994 to 2019.
Billy earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee Technological University in 1993 and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Nashville School of Law in 2017. While in law school, he earned induction into the Cooper’s Inn Honor Society and was named a Law Student for Justice.
Billy has served on the Tennessee Bar Association Board of Governors since 2020, and he was president of the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division from 2021 to 2022. A member of the Nashville Bar Association, Billy was part of the Nashville Bar Foundation Leadership Forum Class of 2022-2023. He is a member of the American Bar Association and a fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
